Then you need the Australian Partner Visa!

The partner visa is designed so that either you or your partner/spouse can come and live in Australia depending on a temporary or permanent basis. However, if you want to live in Australia as a permanent resident, you must obtain a temporary version of the visa before receiving a permanent visa. In order to be eligible for this visa, your partner or spouse must either be an Australia citizen, permanent resident of Australia, or an eligible citizen of New Zealand.

If you want to become a permanent citizen, then, the applicant should apply for both temporary and permanent visas at the same time. The applicant must also request this visa while in Australia. Although there can be a significant variation in processing times for the visa, the processing period for the permanent visa is attached to the staying period of the temporary visa.

Partner visa Australia – subclass 820 (temporary)

With the temporary visa, the visa holder is free to travel from and to Australia. The holder can also live and study in Australia until the permanent visa has finished being processed. Additionally, the holder of the visa can attend English Speaking classes held by the Adult Migrant English Program.

The temporary partner visa is the first step in obtaining a permanent partner visa. It is most likely that the permanent partner visa will be given to the applicant during their period of stay given to the applicant by the temporary visa.  
This is due to the fact that when you apply for a permanent visa, you must also apply for a temporary visa as well. The applications for both the permanent and temporary partner visas must be submitted together.

The eligibility of the partner visa is based on the spouses’ Australian citizenship, Australian permanent residency, or eligibility as a New Zealand citizen.

In order to apply for this visa, it is required that applicants apply from within Australia and not from abroad.

This visa is only a temporary visa. It only leads to the permanent partner visa since you receive the permanent partner visa while during the stay granted by the temporary partner visa.

Duration of Stay

Upon the grant of the temporary partner visa, the holder is allowed to stay on Australian territory until the request for the permanent visa has finished processing or until the request has been withdrawn.

Based on the type of visa, the cost of the visa may vary. Most visas cost 7,715 AUD. However, the prospective marriage visa application can cost from 1,285 AUD. The permanent partner visas and temporary partner visas can be paid for together at the same time.

Processing Time

The processing time of the applications can vary. The period of processing time can range from either 20 months to 25 months.

The holder of a partner visa can live, work, or study in Australia permanently. The holder can also sponsor other family members to come to Australia and also apply for Australian citizenship as well.

The permanent partner visa is granted after the applicant has received the temporary partner visa and has stayed in Australia for a certain amount of time. After the request for the permanent partner visa has been approved, the temporary partner visa holder will receive the permanent partner visa. This is because when one applies for the permanent partner visa, one must also submit the application for the temporary partner visa along with the application for the permanent partner visa.

One either be the spouse or partner of an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident, or an eligible citizen of New Zealand.
